Anxiety & Depression Counseling

Anxiety and depression are the most common struggles individuals present when working with me.  Life is demanding and constantly changing.  We travel through various phases of life, each with their own set of hurdles and uncertainties.  Battling through these challenges can take everything we have, and sometimes even more than that.  It can be overwhelming.  There is no shortage of people who feel like they are barely hanging on to a never-ending rollercoaster.  Numerous studies have shown that counseling is the singularly most effective strategy for fighting anxiety and depression.  Many hope that their anxiety and depression symptoms can simply be managed through medication, but for most, counseling is their best hope, especially when paired with medication.

 

I help clients recognize how dysfunctional thinking and self-criticism play a role in the recurring patterns that keep them trapped.  We explore the origins of those inner voices and automatic responses and through a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and different trauma based interventions.
